A few nights ago I decided I wanted a can of Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup for dinner. I prepared the condensed soup as normal.

I began eating the soup and much to my dislike and distaste, it did not taste like the Campbell's Cream of Chicken Soup I have grown up with and considered a comfort food for almost 73 years. It did not taste right, it was floury, chalky, and did not have the rich taste of chicken I remembered. So the following day I called Campbell's consumer hot line, 1-80*-257-**** and complained. I asked if the recipe had been changed, because it just did not have the same quality of what has made Campbell's a staple at dinner tables of Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners("green bean casserole"); Campbell's the "Icon" of America; Andy Warhol made famous, or the soup that use to get you through those bouts with a virus or cold or flu when nothing else will stay down.

I was told that "YES" indeed they had recently altered the recipe and the representative was sorry that I found it unappetizing, unappealing and not to my liking, or my taste, and that my taste buds had been correct to be offended. It is kind of like "Diet anything" and the real thing, you know right away "it ain't right". The old philosophy "if it ain't broke don't try to fix it" applies here. So here is a chance to voice your opinion and at the same time to get $4.00 worth of coupons and send a message at the same time to the idiots that make these decisions at the top of the food chain ladder that altering a staple of the consumer just to tweak the bottom line is just not a very good idea.

Charge me more maybe but don't screw with a good thing. Below is a copy of my coupons and the "Thank you" note from Campbell's. I just got off the phone with Campbell's and damn they have done the same thing to almost all of their Cream Soups. I lodged another protest.

They are sending more coupons, this time because of the change in the "Cream of Mushroom" soup recipe. So I would guess that as the old saying goes "if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. Remember and be sure to call the number above, lodge your protest and get $4.00 worth of coupons. It will send a message and it is the only voice you have in this wilderness of shame.

$4.00 is $4.00 no matter how you put it on your table or in your pocket. We may not be able to have our voice heard at the polling booth but we can make $4.00 of a difference at the dining table.
